Head Stompers and Bumper Stickers
-
October 29, 2010
Received my "Turn Off Fox, Bad news for America" bumper sticker from the Color of Change. I put it on my guitar case. If I put it on my car, it probably would be vandalized in today's climate.... where tea party officials stomp on a woman's head and give her a concussion. If you haven't heard, it was a Rand Paul rally, ...Paul did condemn their assault.

It takes real courage for a man to throw a woman to the ground and step on her head, a true tea party hero....???!!!
More tea party crooks and crazies in Alaska

The release of documents late Tuesday showing that Republican Senate nominee Joe Miller of Alaska lied about his misconduct while serving as a government attorney in Fairbanks delivered yet another blow to a tea party-backed candidate who was considered a shoo-in just two months ago, when he defeated incumbent Lisa Murkowski in the GOP primary.
Tornado Memories

Tornado Memories
There are funnel cloud sightings tonight, south of where I live in NC. I am not that concerned at this point. I have watched funnel clouds form several times in Florida from a distance.
About 1978, a tornado hit my 3 acre plant nursery. I had no windows in my office prior to renovation, so I couldn’t see it, but I heard a train coming where there are no tracks. I left in a blinding rainstorm, locked the gate, and then saw the 6-8 pickup trucks upside down on top of each other. Unknown to me, my brother (and my landscape foreman) Steve was pulling the first of 6 dead children out of the rubble of an elementary school around the corner.
My next door neighbor Opel, a county agent, lost all her metal sheds. The next lot over, my friend Lyman Hall’s greenhouses were flattened. I sent my entire crew over to help him out for a few days.
In 2007, a tornado that was photographed coming into Beacon, NY, dropped a giant maple tree on 3 cars in the yard of the house where I once lived with my ex-girlfriend. One car was totaled. Mine was in another part of the parking lot and unharmed. I heard the sound and told M and her daughter to get ready to go to the hallway in the basement. I opened the kitchen window and the wind blew in just before the sound of the crash.
We had no friends nearby to help, so the next morning I removed the large tree limbs from the cars and the back porch by myself, then dragged them out of the lot. I was 58 years old, but in a place where I knew few people and thought I had few choices. A few days later, I had severe chest pains and ended up in the emergency room with a suspected torn aorta. It turned out to be a badly sprained chest muscle, but cost me thousands in medical bills.
In Florida, my friends and I helped each other. In NY, I was alone. Can’t remember if I ever received a thank you. They were hard to come by.
I was too dense to see what was happening, and that was my fault. Hope I do better in the next incarnation.
Tell Holder: Don't cave to the Tea Party — protect voters' rights.
-
October 26, 2010
Don't let right wing thugs keep elibible voters from casting their vote as they did in 2000!
Between now and Election Day, one of Attorney General Eric Holder's most important duties is making sure every eligible voter who wants to vote, can vote free from intimidation or coercion.
FOX News commentators, Republican Party operatives and the Tea Party are working conservatives into a paranoid hysteria about the non-existent issue of widespread voter fraud.
While the facts don't support these wild-eyed accusations, the "voter fraud" hysteria leads to the intimidation and harassment of voters who are trying to exercise their basic right to vote.
It's Attorney General Eric Holder's job to make sure every eligible voter can vote free from intimidation or coercion. Click the link below to urge Holder to take action and protect voters' rights.

Media Matters: Wishing for Obama's assassination won't get you fired from Fox News
The media topic of the week was the firing of Juan Williams by NPR over his remark that he gets "nervous" around "people who are in Muslim garb" on airplanes.
Williams' firing comes weeks after CNN canned Rick Sanchez for remarks about Jon Stewart and Jews in the media. In both cases, news organizations made personnel moves in response to perceived violations of their editorial standards.
Yet when it comes to cable ratings leader Fox News, it's hard to tell whether any editorial standards exist, and what - if anything - would get you reprimanded by the network

Drug Companies Hire Troubled Doctors As Experts

NPR is investigating how pharmaceutical company payments to physicians are influencing physician prescription practices in partnership with ProPublica, an independent, nonprofit newsroom that produces investigative journalism in the public interest.
This collaboration also includes The Boston Globe, the Chicago Tribune, PBS Nightly Business Report and Consumer Reports.
Drug companies say they hire the most-respected doctors in their fields for the critical task of teaching about the benefits and risks of the companies' drugs.
But an investigation by ProPublica has uncovered hundreds of doctors receiving company payments who had been accused of professional misconduct, were disciplined by state boards or lacked credentials as researchers or specialists.

Jailhouse Confession: How the right-wing media and Glenn Beck's chalkboard drove Byron Williams to plot assassination
"I would have never started watching Fox News if it wasn't for the fact that Beck was on there. And it was the things that he did, it was the things he exposed that blew my mind." - Byron Williams
According to a police investigation, Williams opened fire on California Highway Patrol officers who had stopped him on an Oakland freeway for driving erratically. For 12 frantic minutes, Williams traded shots with the police, employing three firearms and a small arsenal of ammunition, including armor-piercing rounds fired from a .308-caliber rifle.

Presbyterian Healthcare in Charlotte, NC, will not tell you what your procedure will cost. They are incompetent, arrogant, and worse.
They will give you the cost without insurance, but not what you will actually pay. BCBS says they don't know what the hospital will charge, and neither does Novant, the billing company. You can easily obtain this information in any European democratic country.
Oh, by the way,the "retail" cost of the procedure will be different every time you call. The facilities charge for 2 nerve block charges will either be $900, $1600, or $3200 before insurance adjustments. The doctor's fee with insurance adjustments will be $92.

Essential that Elaine Marshall replaces Sen. Burr, one of the most backward, callous senators in America.
It's hard to beat Burr- the biggest opponent of extending unemployment benefits, great friend of the NRA, anti-choice (0% rating by NARAL),Voted YES on restricting UN funding for population control policies,Voted YES on banning Family Planning funding in US aid abroad,
Voted NO on increasing tax rate for people earning over $1 million, Voted YES on making the Bush tax cuts permanent, Voted NO on restricting employer interference in union organizing·
